Maui Ocean Center Aquarium The kids (and adults) in your group will enjoy a trip to the Maui Ocean Center, located in the harbor village at Maalea, Maui. With thousands of fish housed in aquariums mirroring the nearby natural habitats, it may be the only chance the really little guys may get to see some of the wonders the rest of us see snorkeling in the open sea. While the sea
turtles are a popular exhibit, most of us stop for quite a while in the
shark area -- for me, one species that I'm hoping not to see while I'm
in the water. The Maui Ocean Center is a perfect rainy day adventure while on Maui, too. While there are no camping opportunities here, there are campgrounds nearby at Olowalu and Papalaua. Check availability before you travel. |

Many of Maui's campgrounds require a reservation or a permit to be issued to you before you reach the island. Certain campgrounds are only open on certain days of the week, and all tropical campers should research their own itinerary and island areas.
